Changchun, which in Mandarin means “Long Spring”, is the capital of Jilin Province and is located in the northeast of China. Owing to its location, Changchun has one of the most standard dialects of Mandarin in all of China, and is therefore highly recommended to anyone who is serious about learning Mandarin during their stay. Historically, Changchun was the home of the last emperor, Pi Yi, who ruled under Japanese control during the Second World War from what we know as the‘puppet palace’.
