The Experimental Middle-School International Department of Changchun City was established in May of 2011. Currently, the international department offers two international cooperative high-school programs: Sino-Canadian (China and Canada) and Sino-British (China and the United Kingdom) high-school programs (Jilin Province Foreign Language Education [2001] no. 50). Currently the program has fifteen foreign teachers from outside China and more than 50 students.
The characteristics of the Sino-Canadian high-school program of the Experimental Middle-School International Department of Changchun City are: it serves as a Canadian Government overseas high-school, students undergo three years of full-time study, it completely “replicates” Canadian high-school academic education, students do not leave the country and even enroll for Canadian citizenship, it is taught by teachers possessing Canadian teaching certification, students study exactly the same curriculum as native Canadian students in Canada, qualifying students receive a high-school diploma certified by the Canadian Province of Nova Scotia and can directly apply to all universities in English speaking counties (without the need to go abroad to study for an additional year of preparatory classes).
The educational system of the Sino-British senior middle-school program is flexible; students can study according to the systems of China and the UK at the same time. After graduation, students can obtain a Chinese diploma and a British NCC Education international preparatory course certificate and may take the Chinese Gaokao (college entrance exams), and obtain the qualifications to directly enter more than 40 British, American and Australian universities (without the need to go abroad to study for an additional year of preparatory classes).
The International Department is devoted to the introduction of advanced foreign academic teaching methodologies and the utilization of excellent foreign academic programs and qualified teachers both to establish an educational environment that meets internationals standards and to create a blended Sino-Canadian academic program and educational model that advances Sino-foreign high-school education cooperation and exchange, and trains graduates that are adapted for the complex and internationalized 21st century. Now, the students of the International Department are enjoying the richly dense international flavor of the academic program and the unique charm of its various activities. The international education of our school is displaying flourishing vitality and has obtained the praise of the departments of the governing authorities, parents and students alike
